The Examinacion of Nicholas Stafford of Ballimakeharne esquire aged about fortie foure yeares taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning Richard Whitty of Ballicheen in the County of Wexford ffreeholder vpon the interrogatoryes anne{xed} to the Comission of enquiry
<To the 1st whereof> The examinant Deposeth & saith that the said Richard dwelte at Ballicheen in the said County in the Irish quarters the first yeare and the whole time of the rebellyon and did not thence remoove into the english quarters <t> As his nigh neighbours Nicholas Codd & Adam Waller being protestants did
<To the 2d interr> Hee cannot
<To the 3d interr> The deponent saith that the said Richard did not onely pay his proporcion of publicque leuyes himselfe but did in the time of the warre rayse and collect moneys from others this deponent and others by virtue of his the said Richards office of high constableship which the said Rich{ard} executed in the first or seacond or third yeare of the warre <u> to the deponents sure & personall knowledge, for that the dep{onent} hath to the best of [ ] his remembrance paid leuye{s} to the said Richard Whitty during theis time that hee executed that office

<To the 5th inter> Hee deposeth that the said deponent hath seen the said Richard Whitty personally present at seauerall publi{cque} <w> meetings of the Irish of the Countrey at the Crosse o{f} Killinicke as well the first yeare as since
<To the 6th Interr> Hee Cannot depose
<To the 7th inter> Hee saith that he is confident that the said Richard did take the oath of associacion In that none were admitte{d} <x> to any office or place or trust except they had first taken the said oath

<To the 9th inter> The deponent saith that the said Richard did execute the office of High constable in the time of the rebellyon as aforesaid The deponents cause of knowledge is for that he hath not onely heard the same by generall relacion of the Countrey but did see & know the said Richard to execute the same <y> & that the said Richard did collect the Irish cesses by vertue of that office as the examinant hath formerly deposed
