John Cheevers of Colhole gent aged thirty yeares or thereabouts being duely Sworne & examined touching the foresaid Phillip & Edward Devereux deposeth that he well <q> knew the said Phillip & Edward & that they were in actuall Armes in the first yeare of the rebellion & before the 10th of Nouember 1642 contributing their persons and endeauours to the promoting & carrying on the said Rebellyon against the english in that the said Phillip & Edward were souldyers in Collonell William Brownes Company, when then same with other forces lay at a place called shelbeggan beleagering keeping in the english then in the forte of Duncanon & that they the said Phillip & Edward were in & of the said Company when a partie of the english out of the said forte issued to shelbeggan aforesaid, between whom & the Irish forces there seauerall shots of each side were made & to the deponents perfect knowledge the said Edward & Phillip were present at & actually engaged in that skirmish & further cannot deposeth that the deponents cause of knowledge is to the foresaid actions for that he the deponent was Leiutenant to the said Collonell Brownes Company at the tyme, & in the engagement aforesaid when & where he did see the said Phillip & Edward Deuereux & further saith not &c
