The examinacion of Richard Shortall of Eniscorthy gent aged fortie yeares or thereabouts taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning Dudley Vadicke of in the barrony of Goary & County of Wexford gent
<To the 1st Inter> The Deponent saith that hee well knew the said Dudley for that his habitacion was distant about three miles from this deponents Residence: And that the said Dudley Continued in the enemyes quarters the whole time of the rebellyon, without <f> remooueing him selfe into the english quarters as his english & protestant neighbours did: His Cause of knowledge appeares
<To the 2d Inter> Hee Cannot Depose
<To the 3d & 4th Inter> The Deponent saith that the said Dudley did voluntarily Contribute his person in Armes and Joyned with others in the abetting and promoting the said rebellyon against & the robberyes therein Comitted against the english in the first yeare thereof The deponents cause of knowledge is in that about December 1641: as he was passing the high way from Carnow towardes Limericke the place of the deponents residence did see that great number of men in Armes (whereof the said Dudley was one) driuing <g> & carrying away an herd of cowes & cattle of that kinde to the number of two hundred and twenty or thereabouts which bellonged to Sir Walsingham Cooke knight & his protestant tennants and neighbours from of the landes where the said Sir walsingham & his neighbours dwelt ffor which plunder & actings the said Dudley had noe Lawfull authority that this deponent knew or heard of saving what hee & the Rest with him arrogantly & Rebelliously tooke vpon them and further saith not
