The Examinacion of Jonas Rushworth of Eniscorthy gent aged fifty one yeares or thereabouts taken vpon oath, on behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning Edward Synnot of Tomemacterey in the County of wexford gent deceased vpon the Interrogatoryes annexed to the Comission of enquiry
<To the 1st Interr> The Examinant saith that the said Edward dwelt at Tomemactery in the Irish quarters the first yeare & the remainder of the <w> Rebellyon & did not thence remooue into the english quarters as severall protestants dwelling in the County did His cause of knowledge is for that the deponent was o n e nigh neighbour to the said Edward the yeare 1641: & was well acquainted with the said Edward then & since
<To the 2d interr> The deponent saith that the said Edward vpon the aduance of the Lord Cromwell with his Armie to the County of wexford the said Edward fled and deserted his said <x> habitacion and betooke himselfe into Glenmalurre the Receptacle of the Rebells & is not sithence returned into theese partes his cause of knowledge appeares in this foresaid parte of his deposicion
<To the 3d & 4th> Hee saith that the said Edward did in the first yeare of the Rebellyon in the moneth of 9ber 1641: actually Contribute his person & Rayse men & Armes for the promoting of the said Rebellyon & that the said Edward was one of the <y> County forces or millitia acting and abetting the said Rebellyon against the english, And further saith that the said Edward Joyned him selfe in Confederacy with Collonell Luk{e} Byrne his brother in law that beseiged the Castle of Carnow then defended by the english for the space of seauenteen weekes at which seige the said Edward with his three sonnes seaueral{l} of his seruants & others in Armes with him Continued in Armes till the same was surrendered vp to the said Luke Byrne & Edward Synnot: His cause of knowledg{e} is for that the deponent was for parte of that seige sheltred in the said Edwardes howse, did see him his sons and seruants goeing & Coming to and from the seige of Carnow aforesaid & was thereby, and by their Relacion acquainted with their actings & proceedings aforesaid

<To the 9th interr> The deponent saith that the said Edward was in beginning of the rebellyon one of the Crowners for the County of wexford His cause of knowledge is for that he did <a> heare & know the said Edward to be called at assizes by that title or name stile of office
<To the 10th inter> Hee saith that the said Edward Synnot had three sons by name James, Dominicke & Charles Synnot, which were in actuall Armes in 9ber 1641 & went with their said father & vnder his Comand as <b> souldyers against Carnow to beseige the same as this examinant hath formerly deposed, & likewise the said Edward had seauerall of his seruants that were in Armes at the seige aforesaid his And that then & afterwardes the said Edwardes sons and seruants held Correspondency with & had Releife and Maintenance from him the said Edward according to their quallityes seauerally His cause of knowledge is for that the deponent was in the said Edwardes howse for shelter of his life & did see & was thereby acquainted with the said Edwardes his sons and seruants carriages and actings as aforesaid
<To the 11th Inter> Hee deposeth that one Arthur Manwayring A protestant that dwelt nigh to the said Edward did in <c> the first beginning of the rebellyon desert his the said Arthurs habitacion & Repayred to the Castle of Eniscorthy, then kept by Sir Henry walllops agents in opposicion to the Irish from whence the said Arthur remooued into england & being Returned now dwells at Eniscorthy: His cause of knowledge is in that the deponents dwelling was neere to the said Arthur & that this examinant was for sometime

<To the 12th inter> The deponent saith that the said Edward in the first beginning of the rebellyon in 9ber 1641: did ceaze & take into his possessiom malte and other graine with seauerall goods and cattle of Arthur Manwayrings, an englishman and a protestants & that likewise the said Arthur Edward did with his sons & seruants plunder & kill diuers <d> of this examinants cattle in this deponents presence which the said Edward did by his owne power & Conuerted the same to his owne vse at which hauing noe authority for the same for ought knowne to this deponent: And further deposeth that the said Edwards sons and seruants did in the first Rising of the said Rebellion plunder & Robb the howse of William Sacheuerell of Balliknockan since Captain Sacheuerell of the goods and Cattle therein the said Sacheuerell being an englishman & a protestant & which goods and cattle were brought to the said Edwardes howse & by him Receiued and among the Rest a mare bellonging to this Examinant then kept on the said Sacheuerells landes was plundered as aforesaid: His cause of knowledge is in that the deponent was sheltred in the said Edwardes howse at that time & did see the said seauerall goods and Chattles of the said Arthur Manwayring William Sacheuerell and this deponents brought thither and disposed of to the said Edwardes vse as aforesaid
