The examinacion of William Stafford Gent taken on the behalfe of the Comonwealth vpon oath Concerning Nicholas Stafford of Codstowne in the County of wexford gent
<To the 1st Inter> The deponent saith that the said Nicholas Stafford the first yeare of the warre did liue at Garriniske in the barrony of Ballaghkeene then in the Irish quarters And saith that the <k> said Nihcolas Stafford did not remooue himselfe into the english quarters as many english & protestants neere his then habitacion did, but could not without losse of his estate, as the deponent conceiueth
<To the 2d Interr> The Examinant cannot depose &c
<To the 3d Interr> The deponent saith that the said Nicholas Stafford did contribute to all publicque leuyes the said first yeare <l> of the warres & sithence for the maintenance of the Irish forces for defence of the countrey against the english as he verily beleeueth
<To the 4th & 5th Inter> The examinant cannot depose
<To the 6th Interr> The deponent saith that the said Nicholas Stafford was A member of the County councell in the said first yeare of the warre, & sithence the said Nicholas was one that did Joyne in the elecion of assembly men <m> out of this county: The deponents cause of knowledge is that the deponent did see the said Nicholas present at & act with the county councell and at the elecion for of men for the nationall assembly as aforesaid
<To the 7th Interr> The deponent saith that he verily beleiues the said Nicholas Stafford did take the oath of associacion as other <n> gentry of the nacion did It being a generall thing Imposed on the whole countrey
<To the 8th Interr> Hee cannot depose
<To the 9th Interr> Thet deponent saith that the said Nicholas on or about the yeare 1648: was one of the Commissioners for Auditing <o> the County accounts of money in arreare to the Countrey out of the subcollectors & others handes The deponents cause of knowledge is (turne)
