Jonas Rushworth of Eniscorthy gentleman aged fiftie one yeares or thereabouts Deposeth concerning the said Melcher Synnot & Jesper his sonne vizt
That the said Melcher dwelt in the Irish quarters all the time of the Rebellyon without remoouing himselfe into the english quarters as Sir walsingham Cooke knight & other protestants in that parte of the Countrey did The Deponents cause of knowledge is for that the said Melcher frequentlie Resorted to Eniscorthie the place of this Deponents Residence And further saith That the said Jesper Synot Melchers sonn was prefferred to be Clearke to Sir Morgan Cauanagh in the first yeare of the said Rebellyon & that the deponent hath seen the said Jesper at Eniscorthy writing vnder the said Sir Morgan <o> according his directions: And further saith That the said Jesper was afterwardes a Captaine in the Regiment of Collonell Danyell Cauanagh for the Irish against the english & acted in that Capacitie till he dyed The Deponents cause of knowledge is for that the said Jesper the next daie after the castle of Eniscorthie was betrayed by the Irish came into the Towne of Eniscorthy with his Companie & defended this Deponents house from spoyling by the Irish which the deponent much feared being a protestant, And saith that during his the said Jespers actings in Armes he had recourse vnto & releife from his said father Melcher Synnot & further saith not &c
