The examinacion of Robert Browne of Knocking{all} farmer aged about thirty yeares taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning Nicholas Mayler of Duncormicke in the County of Wexford esquire vpon the Interrogatorye{s} annexed to the Comission of enquiry
<To the 1st inter> The examinant deposeth that the said Nicholas dwelt {at} Duncormicke in the said County in the Irish quarte{rs} the whole time of the rebellion and did not then{ce} remooue into the parliaments quarters as Nich{olas} <k> Row, Mr Humpheryes & other protestants liuing in the barrony of Bargie did, The deponents cause of knowledge is for that the examinant dwelt within two mile{s} distant from the said Nicholas & did frequently resorte to the said Nicholas his howse during the rebellyon
<To the 2d inter> The deponent saith that about Michelmas 1649: at the Lord generall Cromwells Aduance to this County of <l> wexford the said Nicholas with his Cattle remooued from his howse of Duncormicke to the County o{f} Kilkenny the more remote quarters of the Irish for noe other reason knowne to this deponent then to { } & shun the english the deponents cause of knowledge {is} for that the deponent did see the said Nicholas with his cattle in the said County of Kilkenny a flying from the english at the time aforesaid
<To the 3d inter> The deponent saith that the said Nicholas did in the first yeare of the rebellyon & before the 10th of 9ber 16{41} <actually> contribute & Arme some seruants by [ ] { } of his <m> the Number & Names of whom he hath forgott{en } then that Christopher Murphy who carryed an {hand } & Peirce Roe who carryed a musquet & the rest furnished with musquets, fire armes & such li{ke} The deponents cause which said & was of the C millitia of the Cou{nty} of wexford, of the forces raysed by the Irish aga{inst}

the english within the said first yeare of the rebellyon & the deponent saith that this deponent did see the said Nicholas about March 41 Lead a partie of the Irish against the english that sallied out of Duncannon & after shots on each side the english retreated without losses
<To the 4th interr> The deponent saith that the said Nicholas did act & abett the rebellyon in the said first yeare thereof & was present at & Joyned with the Irish that sumoned & tooke <n> the castle of Tinterne from the english & that the said Nicholas Joyned with the Irish that beseiged the Lord Esmond in the forte of Duncannon The deponents cause of knowledge is to this & the former Interrogatory is for that the deponent did see the said Nicholas & his seruants & others vnder his Comand in actuall Armes as aforesaid at the seige of Tinterne & Duncannnon & that Likewise the deponent did see [ ] warrants in the said first yeare of the rebellyon signed by the said Nicholas and others for the raysing of men & mony for carrying on the rebellyon
<To the 5th> Hee the deponent saith that the said Nicholas was present at seauerall publicque meetings of the Irish in the <o> first yeare thereof His cause of knowledge is for that the deponent did see the said Nicholas present at the Crosse of Baldenstowne, Knocbray & Carrigg where the whole County mett in order to promote the rebellyon

<{To th}e 7th interr> The deponent saith that the said Nicholas did take an oath in the first yeare of the rebellyon, which the deponent conceiues was the oath of associacion, The deponents cause of knowledge <p> is for that the deponent was present when Thomas Hampton a preist did administer the said oath to the said Nicholas Mayler at Baldenstowne after masse was ended
