William Stafford of Tamon gent duely sworne & examined Concerning the foresaid Nicholas Mayler of Duncormicke gent esquire Deposeth & saith that he hath knowne the said Nicholas alwayes since the beginning of the warre & saith that the said Nicholas was & acted as a member of the County Councell in the said first yeare & in that capacity did act & abet the warre against the english by signing warrants (with others of that Councell for Raysing monyes for maintenance of the Irish forces then in Armes: And the deponent further saith that he is very confident that the said Nicholas had some millitary Imployment with his brother in law Hugh Rochford then <a> high sherriffe of the County of wexford & the principall man at that time which was in the first yeare but what the Imployment the said Nicholas did execute he the deponent cannot remember And the deponent further saith that the said Nicholas was a Commissioner of the Army in or about the yeare 1644: The deponents cause of knowledge i s to this & the said Nicholas acting as A County Counceller is for that the deponent was Clearke to the said County Councell & eyther a Commissioner with or Clearke to the Commissioners of the Army when the said Nicholas acted in that capacity & further cannot depose &c
