The examinacion of William Stafford gent taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning James Neuill of wexford merchant deceased
<To the 1st Interr> The deponent saith that the said James Nevill did as in the first yeare of the warres liue in Wexford in the Irish quarters where he continued till the said towne <m> was stormed by the lord generall Cromwells army at which time the said James was killed being in Actuall armes ag for the Irish against the english
<To the 2d Interr> Hee cannot depose.
<To the 3d Interr> The Examinant deposeth that he beleiues the said James did contribute his proporcion of publicque leuyes laid <n> on the towne and countrey for promoting propogating the warre raysed by the Irish against the english, as others of the towne did
<To the 4th & 5th interr> He cannot depose
<To the 6th interr> Hee deposeth that the said James was at or before the 10th of Nouember 1642: personally present at seauerall publicque meetings of the towne Inhabitants and Did Joyne with the rest in the electing of men for the generall assemblyes
<To the 7th Interr> Hee deposeth that he is confident that the said James did take and subscribe the oath of associacion <p> being soe generall a thing that it could not bee avoyded of any as this deponent conceaueth
<To the 8th 9th 10th & 11th Inter> Hee cannot depose
<To the 12th Interr> Hee saith that he verily beleiueth that the said James did comonly and vsually buy of the pyrates & <q> men of warre, diuers merchandizes & goods taken at sea by the said Pyrates from the english and by that meanes much enriched himselfe (turne
