The examinacion of Patricke Lacie of Eniscorthy yeoman aged fiftie yeares or thereabouts taken vpon oath, on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning Bryan Murphy of Killedrante in the barrony of Ballaghkeen & County of Wexford gent deceased
<To the 1st interr> The Deponent saith that the said Bryan dweltt in the Barrony and County aforesaid in the Irish quarters the first yeare of the rebellyon on and all the time after <b> till he died which was about the yeare 1646 Distant about two miles from this deponents habitacion, And from thence he did not remooue into the english quarters, as the seauerall english and protestants in the said barrony and County did.
<To the 2d Inter> Hee Cannot depose
<To the 3d & 4th inter> The Deponent saith that the said Bryan did contribute his proporcion of men & Armes for the traynebands raysed in the said barronye for the opposing of the english in the first yeare of the rebellyon & alsoe <c> the said Bryan did contribute to the publicque leuyes of the said Barrony raysed for maintenance of the Irish forces in Armes at that time against the english
<To the 5th inter> The deponent saith that the said Bryan did Joyne with & was present at seauerall publicque meetings of the Irish in the said Barrony in the first yeare of the said Rebellyon, at which meetings the Irish vsed to <d> Consulte how they might forward and carry on the Irish designe against the english: This deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent did see the said Bryan at the said meetings in the first yeare & since
<To the 6th inter> Hee saith that he is Confident the said Bryan was at & voted in the election of members for the generall <e> assemblyes in that he the said Bryan was a man of good note and repute among the Irish at that time

cause of knowledge is for that the deponent was personally present at a place called Killagowne in the barrony of Ballaghkeen at which time & place the deponent did see one James Buttler a preis t to administer the said oath to the said Bryan Murphy
<To the 8th inter> Hee cannot depose
<To the 9th inter> The deponent saith that the said Bryan was a member of the County Councell in the first yeare of the rebellyon and Likewise a Justice of the peace in or about that yeare <f> His cause of knowledge is for that the deponent hath seen seauerall orders and warrants signed by the said Bryan and others of that Councell Relating to the promoting of the said Rebellyon, & that alsoe the deponent did know the said Bryan by vertue of his office of Justice of the peace to binde persons to appeare at the sessions or assizes touching misdeamenors.
<To the 10th inter> The deponent saith that Morrish Murphy eldest sonne to the said Bryan was called a Captayne and had the Comand of a Company of men in the first yeare of the Rebellyon with which Company of men the said Morish went & Joyned with the Irish that beseiged Duncannon <g> forte and that fought against the Lord of Ormond & the english at Ballibegg neere Rosse: This deponents cause of knowledge is in that this deponent did see the said Morish Murphy March in the head of his Company & for that seauerall of the said Morish his souldyers were frequently quartered at this examinants howse and by their Relacion this deponent was informed in what places & in what seruice the said Morish & his Company were engaged: which said Morish to this deponents knowledge vsed to Resorte to & receiue Releife him from him the said Bryan father to the said Morish

<To the 11th & 12th> The Deponent saith that William Sacheuerell Rich: Wadsworth & other english and protestants dwelt in the said barrony of Ballaghkeen who generally fled for fear safeguard of their Liues and after their departures the said Morish did Joyne with others in plundering & Robbing their goods and Chattles: This deponents cause <p> of knowledge is in that it was the generall Rumour & Reporte of the Countrey that the said Morish was a Notorious plunderer & for that the deponent did often see the said Morish marching from place to place with his said Company
