The Examinacion of Teig mc Murtagh of Templeshanon aged fortie two yeares or thereabouts taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning Brian Murphy of Balledrant in the barrony of Ballaghkeen & County of wexford gent deceased.
<To the 1st Inter> The Examinant saith that the said Bryan dwelt at Balledrant in the barrony & County aforesaid in the Irish quarters the first yeare of the rebellyon and till the yeare 1646: about which <h> time he dyed & did not during his lifetime remooue into the english quarters as William Sacheuerell & other his english & protestant neighbours did: His cause of knowledge is in that this deponent dwelt nigh the said Bryan
<To the 2d interr> Hee Cannot depose
<To the 3d & 4th inter> The deponent saith that the said Bryan did not onely Contribute men & Armes for the trayne band Company raysed in the said barrony & his proporcion of publicque taxes <I> for maintenance of the enemyes forces but did Joyne with others & issue warrants as a member of the County Councell for the raysing of men Armes and money in the said first yeare in order to promote the Rebellyon against the english: His cause of knowledge is in that he did see and know the said Bryan to act as a County Councell man & did see heare credibly there were warrants signed to that effect as aforesaid
<To the 5th interr> The deponent saith that he did see the said Bryan personally present at seauerall publicque meetings of the Irish <k> assembled in the said Barrony the first yeare & since in order to [ ] promote the rebellyon.
<To the 6th interr> The deponent saith that he is confident, the said Bryan being a man in good esteem among the Irish and one well affected to their cause did vote in the electing of generall assembly men out of the said County.
<To the 7th Interr> Hee saith that he beleiues the said Bryan did take the oath of associacion it being a generall thing
<To the 8th interr> Hee Cannot depose
<To the 9th Inter> The deponent saith that the said Bryan was a County Councellor <l> the first yeare of the rebellyon as aforesaid his cause of knowledge appeares in the examinants deposicion vpon the 4th interrogatory & that likewise the deponent did see & know the said Bryan to act as a Justice of peace in the said Barrony soone after the said first yeare

<To the 10th inter> The Deponent saith that Morrish Murphy eldest sonne to the said Bryan was in the beginning of the Rebellyon Captaine of a Company raysed in the said Barrony of Ballaghkeen with which Company the said Morrish marched Against and Joyned with the Irish that beseiged Duncannon forte in the first yeare of the Rebellyon & alsoe the said Morrish & his Company were at the fight of Ballibegg neere Rosse with other of the Irish that then & there did fight against & killed many of the english vnder the Lord of Ormonds Comand: And further saith that the said Morrish did <m> Likewise plunder Robb and spoile the english & protestants liuing neere him in the said barrony: The deponents cause of knowledge is in that the deponent did see the said Morish Marching in the front of his said Company about the said barrony & d was informed by seauerall of the said Morrish his souldyers that vsually quartered at this deponents howse in which seruices & places the said Morrish & Company was at & engaged in, And alsoe saith that by the generall reporte and fame of the Countrey the said Morrish was a Noted & violent plunderer of the english & protestants of the said County & during the said Morrish his actings aforesaid he had (to the deponents knowledge Corresponcy & Releife from his said father Bryan Murphy as a child sonne
<To the 11th & 12th> The deponent saith that William Sacheuerell, Rich: wadsworth & other english & protestants Residing in that barrony fled from their respectiue habitacions for security of <n> their persons & goods & that their goods & cattle were plundered by the said Morrish & others of his Confederacie as was bruted about the Countrey by the generall relacion
