Ralph Waddington of St Johns gentleman aged Sixtie foure yeares or thereabouts Deposeth concerning the foresaid Shane Oge Murcho of Rahendarricke in the barronie of Ballaghkeen & Countie of wexford gentleman vizt
That the said Deponent hauing a great stocke of cattle at his farme called Ballemullin alias Mvltowne in the beginning of the rebellyon sent for seauen & fortie of his said Cattle to St Johns the place of his then Residence and in the way this Deponents three seruants was they were driuing the said Cattle to St Johns were met with by the said Shane <h> Oge Murcho & seauerall others of his Confederates in Armes in his Companie about Hallantide 1641: who tooke away the said cattle or most of them from this Deponents said seruants being that the deponent was a protestant at that time The Deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent did afterwardes sue the said Shane oge & others of his Confederates for the said cattle & the said shane vpon his answeare in court as well in Writing as verballie acknowledged his taking away thirtie three heads of the said deponents cattle parte of them being oxen and other parte principall cowes & the deponent saith That the said cattle were worth one with another foure poundes sterling le peice and further saith [ ] that the said shane oge being demanded by the Judicature at Kilkenny vpon the hearing of the said Deponents cause what vse he Conuerted the said cattle vnto, he the said shane answeared that hee had distributed them to the releife of his souldyers And being further demanded who made him the said shane a Captaine he thereunto answeared that he was made a Captaine
