James Peirce of Ballell gent aged fortie yeares or thereabouts being duely sworne & examined Concerning the foresaid Jesper Prendergast saith & deposeth
That the [ ] in the moneth of Aprill 1642 or thereabouts the deponent being vpon his Returne homewardes from the Irish Camp met the said Jesper mounted on a faire white gelding, Armed with a sword & a poule axe goeing towardes shelbeggan where the Irish then lay beseiging Duncannon, at which time the said Jesper demanded of this deponent the cause of his departure from the Camp; the deponent answeared that his want of maintenance was the cause thereof whereupon the said Jesper told the deponent & assured him that meanes would be speedily prepared notwithstanding which the deponent denyed to Returne & the next day after one Lieutenant Treuisoe & a party of <u> english out of the fort of Duncannon were killed at a place neere Dungulp, as this deponent heard & the deponent was informed that the said Jesper was one o of the partie that killed the said Lieutenant & english by one James Synnot & John Welsh souldyers that were of the Irish party at the time of the said killing which Welsh & Synot are yet aliue & dwelling in the barrony of forte & further cannot depose &c
