The Examination of Nickolas Stafford Esquire taken on behalfe of the Comonwealth concerninge the aforesaid Marcus and John Esmondd
<to the 1st interro> this deponent sath that the said Marcus did liue in the first yeare of the warr and since till his death at rathlonone aforesaid in the Irish quarters and that John Esmond did in the <l> yeare aforesaid liue at featherd in the Irish quarters in the house of Mr Nickolas Loftus and English protestant that was fled and sath that both the said partyes mig might haue remoued themselues as som the English did into the English quarters

<to the 3 interro> the deponent sath that the said Marcus and John did both Contrebute in the publicke taxes for the Irish forces in the first <m> yeare of the warr and that the said Marcus did consent to the raisinge of forces in the said first yeare
<to the 4th in 5 and 6th interro> he can not depose
<to the 7th interro> This deponent sath that the said Marcus and John did take the oath of associacion it being generally imposed
<to the 8th interro> he can not depose
<to the 9th interro> this deponent sath that the said John Esmond was a souldier with and vnder the Comand of <n> Captain Downes in the first yeare of the [ ] warr the said Downes beinge a leader without order or [ ] Commission soe fare as this deponent knoweth or hath heard and that the said John was in the Company of the said downes at the
