Marcus Power of Bannow yeoman aged thirty years or thereabouts being sworne & examined touching the foresaid John Esmond, deposeth that the said John Esmond <p> was in Armes for the Irish against the english in the first yeare of the rebellion, in the Company of one Captain James Downes: His cause of knowledge is for that the deponent did see the said John at ffetherd the then guarrisson of the said Captain Downes & alsoe the deponent did see the said John Esmond with his said C aptayne at shelbeggan , when the said Downes & his Company came thither to releiue t he Irish there [ ] vpon [ ] that between the english[ men ] of the forte of Duncannon & the Irish at shelbeggan aforesaid about July 1642 in the saide castle of ffetherd being the dwelling place house of Nicholas Loftus esquire a protestant then fled thence, the deponent further saith that he Conceiues the time that he did soe see the said John at ffetherd to be about May or June 1642: &c
