The Examinacion of Major Edward Aston of Kilbarrie in the County of Waterford taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning James Rochford of Taylerstowne & Hugh Rochford of Tagunnan the said James his sonne gent
Vpon the whole matter of the Interrogatoryes the examinant deposeth & saith that the said James & Hugh Rochford were in actuall Armes with & of the Irish Rebells that in or about the moneth of July in the yeare 1642 beseiged sumoned & tooke the castle of Tinterne which was then guarrissoned by the deponent & a partie of the english for and on the behalfe of the english & the Lady Colclough a protestant, the proprietor of the <r> said castle the deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent did see the said James & Hugh Rochford then & there in Armes as aforesaid: And the deponent further saith that the said Hugh being at that time high sherriffe of the said County of Wexford was one of them that contracted with one John Colclough for the sum of foure hundred poundes for the taking <& subduing> of the said castle & Inuesting the said John Colclough & into the possession thereof the which the said Hugh & the rest of the contractors accordinglie performed: this deponents cause of knowledge <s> is for that the deponent was informed thereof by the general Relacion of the Country therebouts & further saith not &{c}
