The Examination of Nickolas Stafford esquire taken on behalfe of the Commonwealth concerninge the aforesaid Captain Thomas Roch
<to the 1st interro> this deponent sath that the said Thomas did liue in the furlongs towne in the Countye of Waxford in the first yeare of the warr and allwaies after tell the said Thomas went to be gouerner of Duncannon, which place of his abode was all that while in the Irish Quarters <p> and sath that the said Roch might haue remoued himeselfe into the English Quarters and in the first yeare of the warr as seuerall English did
<to the 2 interro> he can not depose
<to the 3o interro> this deponent sath that the said Thomas did in the first yeare of the warr actually contrebute to raise men mony and other prouisions for the Irish forces <q> and was of the Countye meletia or the fforces raised in the first yeare aforesaid
<to the 4th interro> this deponent sath that the said Roch did acte and abett the said warr in the first yeare for that the said Roch had charge to be before duncanon with his Company and other forces as theire Cheiffe where for the most part <r> he Continued and for that the said Roch did about July 1642 nere the hooke fall on a partye of English that belonged to duncanon and kild drowned and tooke ab about one hundred of them and sent the he a head of Captain Ausine senior the Comonder

<to the 5th interro> this deponent sath that the said Thomas was Constantly at the publicke mettinge <s> of the Countrye forces and was Constant in the Countye Irish seruice to promote the warr
<to the 6th interro> he can not depose
<to the 7th interro> this deponent sath that the said Thomas did take the oath of associacion
<to the 8th interro> he can not depose
<to the 9th interro> this deponent sath that the said Thomas was in the first yeare of the warr Captain of <t> foot and a member of the County Councell in Waxford and afterward gouerner of the forte of Duncanon where he dyed which was while Collonell Cooke Lay in seige of the said forte
<to the 10th interro> this deponent sath that the said Thomas had a father whose name was Roberte that suruiued the said Thomas but as this deponent <u> hath Credable heard dyed in Duncannon forte for before the surrender thereof to Collonell Cooke
<to the 11th interro> this deponent can not depose
<to the 12th interro> this deponent sath that he heard that the said Thomas gott some musquits swords and a buffe coate from <w> the English at hooke and of further plunder knoweth not
