The Examinacion of Thomas Roach of Churchtowne neere Hooke in the barrony of shelbyrne husbandman aged about fifty yeares taken vpon oath Concerning the said William Hore of Harperstowne
<vpon the> whole matter of the Interrogatoryes the Examinant deposeth and saith that the deponent being in the first yeare of the rebellyon a tennant to Mr Allexander Redmond then of the Hooke and hapning to be at his landlords howse vpon <e> St Margets day in the moneth of July in the said first yeare of the warre where he the deponent was at dinner & in the midst of dynner some of the english officers sumoned the said Mr Redmond to yeild the castle & to take quarter for himselfe and his wife which the said Mr Redmond denyed to doe and thereupon gaue the english shot against the said castle and shortly or within an houre after there Came a party of the Irish that fought with and killed about one hundred of the english & tooke one Lieutenant Esmond & some of that party prissoners, And Imediately after the said english were killed the deponent being appointed by Mr Redmond to stand vpon the walle with a musquet did see the said william Hore & Anthony Hore his sonne with Coates on, Come into the said Redmonds howse, amongst the Irish officers & souldyers that came from killing of the english: And further saith that hee did see [ ] horses with saddles on them walking at the doore of the said Redmonds howse, which did bellong to some of the Irish party: And further saith that the deponent was neyther vnder Comand or in pay at the time that the said killing hapned
