The examinacion of Dauid Deuereux of Knockhowling gent aged about fiftie two yeares taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning John Hay of Growgan in the said County of Wexford gent deceased
<To the 1st Inter> The examinant deposeth and saith that the said John Hay dwelt at Growgan in the said County in the Irish quarters the whole time of the rebellyon till he dyed which the deponent Conceiueth to bee about three yeares since and did not thence remooue into the english quarters <t> as he might haue done with Nicholas Codd Adam waller Edmond Burdeaux & other english and protestants Liuing neere him the said John Hay his cause of knowledge is that he liued neere the said John
<To the 2d inter> Hee cannot depose
<To the 3d Inter> Hee deposeth and saith that the said John did actually contribute his proporcion of publicque taxes then Imposed on the countrey in the first yeare of the warre & since for maintenance of the Irish forces then in Armes against the english As this deponent & others Liuing neere him did & particularly the Deponent heard of the collectors of <u> the Irish leuyes that the said John (amongst others) paid his share of publicque cesses, his cause of knowledge appeares & further saith that he is confident that the said John did equally with this deponent and others of his Neighbours help to maintayne & set forth a man out of his quarter to the Company of the trayne band raysed for defence of the Irish [ ] against the english it being a generall thing & further to that interrogatory he cannot depose
<To the 4th 5th & 6th> & the rest of the Interrogatoryes he cannot depose and further saith not.
