The Examinacion of William Oulton of wexford gardner aged fiftie yeares or thereabouts taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning Allexander Redmond of Rahin in the barrony of Ballaghkeen & County of wexford gent
<To the 1st Inter> The Examinant saith and deposeth that the said Allexander dwelt at Rahin in the said barrony and County in the Irish quarters the first yeare of the rebellyon and the residue thereof without remoouing himselfe into the english quarters as Sir walsingham Cooke knight Mr ffountaine & other protestants that dwelt nigh the said Allexander did <r> His cause of knowledge is for that the examinant dwelt with the said Sir walsingham Cooke diuers yeares before the Rebellyon (which was within a mile to the said Allexanders dwelling) and after the said rebellyon this deponent dwelt in them partes neere to the said Allexander for along time
<To the 2d & 3d> Hee Cannot depose
<To the 4th & 12th> The deponent saith that this Deponents goods and cattle being wholelie plundered by his neighbours this Deponent hauing fled to wexford & thence taking boate for Milford & as the said boate was passing a little beyond <s> Arkloe, she was cast away wherein seauerall english & protestants to the Number of fourscore or thereabou{ts} perished this deponent being hauing escaped by swimming was taken prissoner & Restrayned in the Castle of Arkloe by the Irish & hauing in that restraynte Contracted sicknes & becoming a criple was forced to sta{y} in the Countrey when And further saith that he this deponent did see in the custodie of the said Allexander Redmond & among his cattle two cowes with one heifer & one bullocke of this deponents proper goods that were plundered as aforesaid which cattle this Deponent durst not demand but being befreinded by one Hugh Cavanagh brother in law to th{e} said Allexander, he the said Cavanagh in the deponents behalfe

demanded the foresaid cattle of this deponents out of the said Redmonds possession which he possitiuely refused to restore whereupon the said Cauanagh condoling this Deponents sad condicion peticioned the then gouernment and had orders to seize this deponents cattle for this deponents vse, which the said Allexander vnderstanding killed and made away this <t> examinants said cattle soe that this deponent did not nor could not ever since recouer his said cattle from the said Allexander Redmond and nor any satisfacion in Leiw of them and further saith not &c onely that theese transactions were before May 1642:
