Robert Browne of Knockingall aged thir thirty yeares or thereabouts being duely sworne & examined Concerning the foresaid Patricke Roach of Ambrostowne gent deposeth & saith that the said Patr did act & abet the rebellyon in the first yeare thereof & before the 10th of Nouember 1642 The & was one of County Councell that yeare, The deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent did see t he said warrants signed by the said Patr & others of the said Councell as well for the Raysing monyes, as making <d> prouisions of Armes & men with habiliments of warre for the promoting of the Rebellyon against the english And the deponent further saith that he did see the said Patr Roach about the beginning of March next after the Rebellyon brake forth come to the Campe where the Irish then lay beseiging Duncannon forte & bringing with him monyes & prouisions for maintenance of the said Irish Rebells: And further saith that the deponent did lately see A warrant signed by the said Patricke Roach & others of the County Councell bearing date in or about March 1642: after the rebellyon began directed to Patr ffitznicholl of Balliharty gent & some oth { er } Requiri{ng } them to Rayse in the each of the seauen peeres of Kilmore Bargie barrony foure musquets with Amunicion proportionable & eight swordes also in each peere for the Arming of souldyers to fight against the english In pursuance whereof the said ffitznicholl issued A warrant vnder his hand directed to this deponents father <d> Requiring him to leuy the in the peere of Kilmore <the proporcion> of the musquets & pikes swordes aforesaid which Armes were accordingly to this deponents knowledge Raysed and Imployed against the english in seauerall fights And the deponent further saith that a letter now produced to this deponent bearing date the 14th of July 1642 directed to

Captain Thomas Rosceter his the said Roaches brother in law then at the Camp against Duncannon is to the deponents sure knowledge the hand writing of the said Patricke Roach & the deponent being well acquainted with the said Patrickes writing in that he did seauerall papers written & sagned by him The Contents of which letter are as f earnestly solliciting the said Rosceter to keep the souldyers at that seige togeather otherwise the Countrey would be vndone & that he the said Roach would that very day mooue the Councell to send supplyes of monyes and prouisions to the Camp or that otherwise order should be giuen that the said Rosceter & others Captaines and souldyers should lye on the seauerall barronyes till the monyes were brought in & paid vnto them the said souldyers being at that time Ready to breake vp their seige for want of <f> mayntenance as is by the said letter mencioned & exprest & to this deponents knowledge the said Rosceters & others Companyes Continued at that seige a long time after that and further cannot depose &c
