The Examination of William Stafford Gentleman taken in behalfe of the Commonwealth Concerning John Roch of Newbay desessed Gentleman desessed
<to the first interro> Sath that the said John Roch did in the first yeare of the warr and many yeares since liue at Bryans towne in the barronye of Shilmaleere beinge some part of the said Roch his Estate and that the said John might haue remoued himeselfe into the <g> English Quarters as ot many English did but not without danger as this deponant Conceaueth

<to the 3 interro> Sath that he beleiueth that the said John Roch did in the first yeare of the warr and before the 10th of nouember 1642 did actually Contribute <h> in the Publicke taxes of the Countrye for the Irish and sath that the said Roch was in the said first yeare of the warr a Captain of a foote Company and was in the yeare 1643 a Captain in in the County milletia
<to the 4th interro> Sath that the said John Roch with his foote Company in the first yeare of the warr did <I> Joyne with other forces in the sumoninge and takeinge of tenteron in the Countye of Waxford which said place belonged to Sir Ceazer Coulclough and was Kept and defended against the Irish by the English vnder the Command of Captain Austin
