The Examinacions of some of the Inhabitants of Cashell takenige before vs the 26th of August 1652. touchinge the murther donne in Cashell aforesaid <A> at the begininge of the rebellion, beinge about the first of January 1641 At which time Phillipp ô Dwyer with his forces entred Cashell
<1)> William Power of Cashell aforesaid Taylor adged about fiftie yeares beinge duely sworne & examined, sayeth as followeth, first that he was at Cashell when the said Phillipp ô Dwyer and his forces came vnto Cashell <B> came thither, and sayeth that he saw one Thomas Charleton murthered by one William mc Phillipp ô Dwyer of Ardmaile, And further sayeth that he hath seen alsoe one William Beane Inkeeper murthered by one James Roach of Griffynestowne Taylor And further sayeth that he saw was standinge on the streetes when Jo Thomas Broowne Cooper was murthered alsoe by the said Roach The said William Power alsoe informeth that he was present when <C> John Dwyer of Knockegormane in Kilnamannagh made a thrusted with a nacked swoord at Mr Beane the Inkeepers Oastler and afterwards wherewith he wounded with a blowe by the said John him And furt h e r sayeth not
<2)> John Power of the same aged 40 yeares or thereabouts by beinge sworne as aforesaid, sayeth that Thomas Charleleton sadler was murthered by one William mc Phillipp <D symbol> ô Dwyer Taylor of Ardmaile, And sayeth alsoe that one Petter murdoe sheilterred in his house by this deponent vnder straw, was stripped by one Richard fitz Thomas Butler of And further sayeth that Phillipp mc Shane of Clonnoulty his sonne named haue been stripped a scott weoman who layed in his owne house. And further sayeth not
<E> William Hackett of Cashell aforesaid aged about 50 yeares & [ ] beeinge sworne vppon the Holly Evangelist, sayeth that <Phillip mc Thomas ô Dwyer> Phillipp mc Thomas ô Dwyer of Kilnamannagh came vnto this deponents house immediatly after the murtheringe of ffrances Bannister, of by whome the said Phillipp tooke tenn pounds & 10 s. & the same layed in deposito vppon this Informers hands. And furth{er} sayeth not

<4)> Thomas Mennoge of Cashell aforesaid aged about 50. yeares beinge sworne vppon the holly Evanglist, sayeth that one <ff> William Beane Inkeeper was murthered by James Roach of Griffynstowne, And further saith that it was credibley tould him that one of the English who were convoyed to Clonmell haue been murthered in the heigh way by one Donnogh ô Dwyer one of the said Conway. And further sayeth not
<5)> Raph Carr of Cashell aforesaid aged about 20. yeares beinge sworne vppon the holly Evangelist sayeth that one James Hikie of Tuoryne in Kilnamannagh ha <G> came in companny with others vnto this Informers fathers house and brake oppen all the chests in the house & tooke away with them all the goods belonginge vnto his father. And further sayeth not
<6)> Joan Meagher of Cashell aforesaid aged about 35 yeares or there about, beinge sworne vppon the holly Evangelist, say= <+> eth that shee saw Mr Bannister, & John Lensay murthered by seuerall of the partie that came to Cashell then but their names this Informer knowes not. And further sayeth not
<7)> Paule Boyton of Cashell aforesaid aged about 40. yeares and beinge sworne vppon the Holly Evangelist sayeth <H> that Charles ô Dwyer of Cammus came vnto this Informer and putt him to his oath whether he had anny of the English their goods. And this deponent tould him he had nothinge but one ould shute of Mr Beanes the which this Informer was constrained to deliuer vpp vnto the said Charles. And further sayeth not.
<8)> Mr Richard Hackett of Cashell aforesaid aged about 40 yeares sayeth that Morrish Manvile of Cashell aforesaid tould <I> this Informer that he found William Moone tooke hangedge in a tree, And that donne by Vllicke Boorke of Sysloarnie whose life the said Morrish then saued by cu tinge him doune before hee was dead And further sayeth not that some of the English their goods beinge in his house were carryed away by Charles ô Dwyer of Cammus & one Dwyer of Clonishbuoe togither with others. And further sayeth not, but that his servant [gaue] tould him soe he beinge not then present himselfe

<9)> Thomas Kearnes fitz Edmond of Cashell aforesaid aged <K> about 45. yeares or thereabouts beinge sworne vppon the Holly Evangelist sayeth that 2. dayes before the Massacre one Teige Inillane of Kilnamannagh came drew a longe skeane vppon one Thomas B a rlyn g e Clenton and were it not that this Informer drew a skeane and tooke the said skeane Teige by the necke, and tould him playnely if he did not leaue of the said Thomas that he would make an end of him, vppon which this deponent the said Teige left of. And further this Informer sayeth not.
<10)> James Boyton of Cashell aged 50. yeares or thereabouts beinge sworne vppon the holly Evangelist, sayeth that <L> he heard that Charles ô Dwyer was verry actiue & busey about the takeinge away of the English goods. And further sayeth not, onely that he sayeth that he hath seen William mc Phillipp ô Dwyer killinge of Thomas Charleton with a great clubb
<11)> John Hackett fitz Richard of Cashell aforesaid aged 50. years or thereabouts beinge sworne vppon the Holly Evanglist <M> sayeth that he hath seen 3. of Phillipp mc Shane of <Hugh mcShane Ryan & his brothers> Clonoultys [ ] sonnes killinge of Mr Beans Oaster, And that he haue seen Phillipp ô Dwyer, Charles ô Dwyer & others actiue & busey about the takeinge away of the said English goods. And further sayeth not.
<12> Ellis Hanrighan aged 60 yeares deposeth that shee did see one William mc Phillip of Ardmaile murther Thomas Sadler <N> and that shee did see 4 or 5 of the souldiors belonging to Killnamanagh murthering John Linsy
<13> Catharin Hogane aged 50 yeares or therabout deposeth shee <O> saw Mr Beane and his tapster murthered by some of the souldiors that came in to the towne whose names shee knoweth not, but was informed by diuers of the neighbors that Phillip mc Shane <{H}ugh mc Shane Ryan & his brothers.> of
Clonoulty in Killnamannagh were his sons were the murtherers

<14> Catharin Hackett aged 55 yeares or thereabout deposeth <P> that one Cnoghor faddy oDwyer son to John Dwyer of Poulvarly in Killnamannagh murthered either Thomas Saddler or John Linsie whither of both this deponent knoweth not
<15> Thomas Nangle of Cashell aforesaid aged 60. yeares or there abouts deposeth vppon oath that he liued then within the walls of Cashell aforesaid at the time when when Phillipp ô Dwyer togither with others came armed thither. And sayeth that the English haue been were murthered and plundered then, but by what particuler men this deponent knoweth not, because he durst not leaue his house all that time.
<16)> William Boorke of Cashell aforesaid aged 30 yeares or thereabout, deposeth vppon oath that he was present when one Phillipp mc Shane his sonne named Hugh <Q> mc Phillipp kil murthered ffrances Banister without the gates. And further sayeth not.
<17> Patricke Ryan of Cashell aforesaid aged 30. yeares or thereabouts, deposeth vppon oath, that at the time when Phillipp ô Dwyer with his forces came vnto Cashell aforesaid He and this Informer haue did seen Charles ô Dwyer of Cammus cominge to his Master Richard Hackett puttinge <R> him to his oath what goods of the English layed were in his house, and after takeinge his oath Charles the said Charles was not therewith contented but searched the house and at Lenght found in an ould house neere the said his said Masters house one trunke belonginge vnto the English which the said Charles tooke vnto his owne possession. And touchinge the murther this deponent sayeth nothinge.
