<symbol> An Examination taken before us the 12th September 1652 of the Masseckre [ ] at and Murdder in and about cashell in the first yeere of Rebellion
<A> Morrish Manvill of Cashell aged about 50 yeares beinge sworne vppon the holly Evangelist sayeth that <Vllick Bourke> Vllicke Boorke of Lyslowryne came treathninge one William Moone vnto this Informers house for to hange him the said Moone beinge be committed vnto his chardge, [ber ] by Phillipp ô Dwer, this deponent beinge then Marshiall of the County And further saiyeth that the said William Moone tould this Informer that the said Vllicke <B> hanged him almost quite for not giueinge him some monies before his committall vnto this deponent And sayeth alsoe that one of Oliver Joanes servants beinge condemned by Phillipp ô Dwyer and the rest of the commaunders in cheefe that were then in Cashell when the English were murthered, the said servant beinge alsoe committed vnto this deponent chardge, vntil <C> he should be executed next mornige, one Bryen Kearney of Ballybege came vnto the this Informers house (he beinge at home himselfe at that time) and hanged the said servant with a rope within the chamber where he layed vntill this Informer cominge in, & heereing thereof ranne vnto the chamber & cutted the roope with his skeane, and saued the mans life. And further sayeth <D> that Phillipp ô Dwyer of Dunedrome, Teige Meagher of Clonnakeaney, Theobald Butler of Kiloskeahane. Donnogh ô Dwyer brother vnto the said Phillipp were cheefe commaunders togither with seuerall others that he dooth not well know at this present, And that the said <E> Vllicke Boorke of Lyslowryne, Charles ô Dwyre of Camus Bryen Kearney of Ballybege, James Boorke of Scartev=ickevile, John Dwyer of Knockeballygormane, Hugh mc Phillipp Ryan of Clounoultie & his brother, Keadagh Meagher of Ballycummuske & seuerall others were verrie actiue & busie about the plounderinge of the English in Cashell at the begininge of the Rebellion. And &c.

<3.> John Donnogh mc Shane of Cashell aged about 45 yeares deposeth that he beinge sent from yeoghill by his Master from the Levt. Collonell Oliver Joanes to Cashell for to bringe alonge with him thither backe one of his said Masters children left behinde in Cashell aforesaid, And one Levt Collonell Donnogh <A> ô Dwyer, togither with Teige oge ô Meagher and Bryen Kenney of Ballybegge meeteinge the said Donnogh, questioned him where his Master was, to which he repleyed, that he was in yeoghill vppon which answer the said Donnogh, Teige & Bryen tooke the said Donnogh mc Shane with them into ffrances Salls house and tould that they would vse him like he they would vse his Master, that was to hange him, vppon which he was brought before Phillipp ô Dwyer and condemned <B> to death, beinge for noe other cause but that he was the said Oliuer his servant At lengt James Sall the Lawyer with much adoe go saued his life. And further sayeth that B the said Bryen Kearney would hange quite the him the said Donnogh mc Shane after beinge committed vnto the Marshialls house, had it not been that the said Marshiall Morris Manvill saved his life. And further sayeth not
