James Hamilton of Cashell. saith The Rebells Entred Newyeeres Eue to Cashell, & he saw Tybott Butler & Donnogh ô Duyer come in with the first of them. that he <A> saw no Murders comitted there, being vnder a guard kept in a house vpon pretence of safety, that seuerall Townesmen came into the house where he was. & told him particularly of the Murthers of seuerall English in all about 18. That the gate of Cashell was first broke ope before the said Butler & Duyer came in, That the said Butler came in with the first armed with sword & target; that the Keyes of the Towne were deliuered soone after about 12 a clock to Philip ô Duyer; That their first action was to rifle plunder & secure the English. That the Examinant & seuerall English were together prisoners in William Youngs house. whither Much of the English goods were brought <B> & layd vp fo r in a Magazine towards prouiding for the Warre That they fought Rory mc Shane was Cheife man in commanding the guard & Teige ô Maher were Masters overseers of the Magazine was also then one <of the Commanders and Teige o magher was present whilst the goods were Carying out of the house> That they gaue out they were for the King whom the Parliament as they said had abused That Teige ô Maher was with the Rebells at that time. That he heard by Comon Report That Vlick Bourke hang vp William Moone for a while. & after let him downe.
