This Examinant Sworn & Examined saith that he was resident in Cashell about in the yeare <A> 1641 & that about the 31th of Desember in the same yeare theyr Ent Came abou{t} Cashell Coll Phillip ô Dwyer of Dondrum Tibot Butler of Killoskehan Richard Butler of ballinaKill Thomas Pursell of Gurtany James Pursell of Knockanrowe John ô Dwyer of Gurtraske & Phillip Magrg Magraght of blean, Captaines, with others and did sett them selfes in theyr seuerall quarters to storm the gattes, & further saith that the towns peopell put them selfes in to a posture of defence & the mayor Edward Sall with such of townsmen as did stick vnto him Cam downe towards [ ] Hickeles Gatte & theyr one Patrick Sall fitz John Cried for quarter by whatt orders this deponent Knoweth not but and imediattly the maior withdrew him selfe where vppon eueryon of the inhabitants went to his one home to secure him selfe, whervppon the Enimy Came in & the same day plundred & striptt all the English & prottistant as they Cool d at wold find, & the next day they fell a murthering of many English protistants of whome this Examinant & John Hackett buried about fiftenn att theyr one Charges & saith that he hard that one John

<B> John ô Dwyer of Crossalle his sonns vidl [ ] <Phillip mc Thomas ô Dwyer.> Edmond & Donagh & one Phillip mc Thomas o Dwyer mc of Moorton wayr were att the Murthering of one Mr Banister a Minester out of whos th pocketts the sayd Phillip had taiken two hand fulls of mony & a peace of Platte & as this Examinant was Crediably informed & <C> further saith that he did William mc Shean ô Dwyer of Crossalle was an acter of the sayd murther and acknowled & bragd of his so dowing as this Examinant was Credibly informed by Common on Reportt & that he & his said father was Comited for the sade fackt by the sad Coll: Phillip o Dwyer to be proseeded against att the then next assieses wheare they appeared but how they Came of this Examinant Knowith not, & further saith that the said Phillip o Dwyer Coll. Commited William Magragh & Gillerdneafe mc <D> william (of Capt phillip Magraghs Company) to the Galle of Cashell for the Murther of mr William Beane, but how they were thence discharged this Examinant Knowith not & further <Hugh mc Phillip Ryan> saith that one Hugh Ryon mc Phillip of Balyngather Thomas Ryon now of Clonoulty & one James Boyton then of Clonoulty [ ] & Hugh <Hugh mc Shane Ryan> mc Shean Ryon of the same who as this deponent hard to haue bin acters of the Murthers aforesaid & that thre of thes the three first attempted to Kill this deponents wife for preseruing <E> the life of Margret Dauison & her Chilld & <Bryan Kearney> he further saith that Bryen Karney fitzJohn of Ballybege D was one of the Cheefest Plunders att that time & Pertickerly particularly this Examinant did see & obserue him to break

<f> breake open a trunck belonging to an English man which trunck stood att Mickell Phebbands howse in Cashell & further saith that William James Roch <James Mocler> of Bally grifethin & James Mokler of now a Prisonor att Cashell were acters of the murther aforesaid as this Examinant was Credably informed by th[ ] who [ ] & farther saith not.
