<A> The Examination of Vlicke Bourke taken in Clonmell this 11th Nouemb: 1652
Sayth that Vppon the March of Phillipp ô Duyer to Cashell, he Called Vppon the house of this Examinant desired him with his Tenants, & Servants to goe alonge with him that Night, & when he Came Vppon the way tould him the designe of that his buissnesse was, to March to Cashell, And afterward aboute Ardmayle Coll: Donnogh ô Duyer Enquiringe of his brother the said Phillip, Concerninge the designe, & what hopes he had of the takeinge of Cashell, he Answered he was sure of itt allreddy And saith that there were with the said <C> Phillipp, Teage oge ô Maghir, Edmond Boy ô Morres, Theobald Buttler of Killeskehan; Richard Buttler of Ballinikill Tho: Purcell of Gurtainne, Bryan Karny of Ballybegg, Lt: to the said Theobald & Seuerall others, who Entred Cashell on New Yeares Eue in the yeare 1641: the Gate beinge broken open with a Hatchett, Wherevppon one Bane an Inkeeper of Cashell spake alowde to the Inhabittants of Cashell, that itt was by theyre Meanes, that the Irish Men was Suffered to Come in, & that they would Now plunder, & Kill the English, and withall rann (as this Examinant beleueth) into the Celler within his House for

refuge, & that one Nicholas Sale of Cashell <Alderman> said that if they Suffered the said Bea <D> Beane to liue, that he would heereafter Make foulde worke with them, & therevppon Phillipp Magrath of Bleane to whome the said words was Spoaken to, by the said Sale went into the Celler & fought him one, & brought him into the strate & ther Killed him = And sayth that Bryan Karny aforesaid was actiue in the Murthers of Cashell & Particulerly did Kill one Carr a SchooleMaster, his Cause of Knowledge is, that beinge in a House ouer the waye in the streete he Saw the Said Bryen in the Streete with many others with theyre Swords drawen where the said Carr was Killed he saith allsoe that he hath [Seene] Saw Edmond <E> Boy Morres aforesaid who dwelt neere Templemore with his Sword drawne to wounde an English Man, & he said he would Spare None of them that he Mett And that Morres Mandiuill of Cashell did stirr Vpp the Irish Nott to Spare the English; & that he threatned to Kill an English Woman, if she woulde Nott deliuer her Mony to him, but what became of the Said Woman he Knoweth Not = And beinge demanded what he Knoweth Concerninge
