<symbol> <23> Giles Mash of Belgooly aged 52 yeares or there abouts being sworne & examined <B> saith he dwelt at Belgooly the first yeare of the rebellion warres & two or thre yeares before, and was & taken prissoner there when the Irish gentle. were assembled together of the Barrony of Kinialea & parts adiacent were assembled together about the begining of lent, in the yeare 1641 the Chiefe whereof were Phillip Barry oge John Long, Richard Roche fitz dauid, of the Glinny dauid og Rea, James Goggan fitz Piers Malaghline o Line of Jordanstowne, & one Garrett Newgent, whoe was shott in the leg with & diuers others & this deponent saith that while he was in prisson, he heard the foresaid Richard Roche of the Glinny declare to Phillip Barry og & others in on a roome vnder th vnder this deponent, that he had shott one John Browne a millor of the new mills neare Kinsale, aged foure score yeares of age or there abouts while he was g to which the said Barry oge said it was not well done of him to kill such an old man he should rather haue brought him prissoner & this deponent saith that the said millor was neare vpon fourescore yeares of age & was shott as aforesaid as he was goeing to Kinsale for his safety and further saith that he heard that Robert Beer & his wife, Pasqua Trudgeon dolbeer, John Lettamalone & another man called Pasqua Trudgeon were hanged at <C> Belgooly & as he verily beleeue by order from John Long ffor [ ] and & the rest, of the assembly there (and as) for they had

Consultations together about that time, & two months before, and saith that he heard that dauid og Rea <A> aforesaid gaue order to his tennants to lay waite for John Cooke & two english men more, shee were which persons were mett vpon his land, & murthered by the said tennants whose names he knowes not. & this deponent heard that Robert Beers two children were throwne ouer the clift neare Cunery, by James Roche or his tennants & further saith not
