<27> Mary Hodnett the wife of Garrett Hodnett of Burranie being sworne & examined saith, that at the begining of the Rebellion in Ireland, shee liued at Kilbrittan Castle, in the yeare 1641 which Castle appoint Mac Carty Rea being Chiefe commander of the irish party there then, about which time shee h that one Gussain seruant to Mr Marsh, & a boy <A> were hanged there, and, about a fortnight after two english persons more were hanged there. the cause of her knowledge is that she saw them carryed to execution, but by whose order it was done she knowes not: and saith one donough daniell og Hurlys sonne now liueing neare Kilbrittan can can giue in further euedence for that the said daniell og Hurly kept the keyes of the Castle . further saith that Mr fullers boy of Bandon bridge, was taken neare about the same time by some of Kilbrittans men, & hanged, but whoe they were that hang’d him, or by what order shee knowes not & further saith not.
