The examination of Richard Barry of Bellfoyle in the County of Corke gent aged forty yeeres & vpwards
<A> Whoe being Examined saieth that in the first March of the Rebellion or Aprill 1642. There was an Assembly of the Gentrye of the Irish at Ballygoely in the County of Corke That Phillipp Barry oge, John Long of Mountlong Esquire, Phillipp Roch of Polelong gentleman James Roch of Rinecore John Roch of Ballynvawrus gentleman Richard Roch of the Island gent, David oge Reogh of Ballilowhye gent, Peirce Coggan of Ballynacourte gent, Richard Roch of Bretfeeldstowne gent, This Examinante and seuerall others whose names he Remembreth not were present at that Assembly And saieth That hee this Examinante and as he beleiveth all the said other Gentlemen were forced to come to the said Assembly by the <B> menacings and threatenings of Captain Soogan and Captain ffitz gerrald, Captain Gallduffe Christopher O Bryan & James Browne whoe threatned to burne spoyle and plunder those that would not come to the said Assembly And that they did accordingly spoyle and plunder seuerall people, And saieth hee knoweth not by what authoritye the said Assembly was Gathered saue only by the said threatnings of the said persons whoe alleadged they had such orders from

<C> from Generall Barry but saieth That hee knoweth not of any act or order that was then made by the said Assembly And saieth that the said Assembly was Gathered and Called together for the generall defence of the Irish against the English as hee conceiveth and But beleiveth that there was noe particular provision or order then there taken for the mainteyninge of any soldiers
The Examinate further saieth That hee did not then either knowe or heare of any order given by the said Assembly for the Executing of any person either English or other nor did knowe of any then But did heere that somme were then Executed nor did heare of any the that were then Executed vntill about a yeare since hee but remembreth not any of theire names save onely one Beare whoe as this Examinante heard that some were was then Executed but did not heare theire names but knoweth not for what cause The Examinate further saieth That hee did never knowe B Robert Beare or his wife Pasyna Trudgeon Pasyna Dalbeare John LettinaloneWilliams or any of their Cheldren or servants
The Examinante further saieth That hee did heare <D> that these persons that were Executed the tyme of the said Assembly were soe Executed by orders from Captaine Soogan and by somme of his soldiers. And

<E> That Captaine Soogan & Captaine ffitz Gerrald are dead as hee beleiueth But whether the said Captaine Gallduffe Christopher O Brynn & James Browne or any of them bee living or dead or where they are hee knoweth not.
And sayeth that knoweth not nor ever heard any thing more conceauinge any thinge donne at that assembly Only that hee was told at the tyme of the said Assembly that Barry oge did fall out with Captaine Soogan Concerninge the Executing of some persons and further saieth not.
