The Examinacion of Mr Daniell Hurly of Dromgarra in Carberry aboute 35 yeares of age: taken the 15th of September 1652
<symbol> <Sayeth:> That the day of the second day after that kilbrittaine was taken by the English aboute Whitsuntide 1642: he this Examinant then being present at a Rendesvouze & assembly of the Country with McCarthy Reagh & at kilvarrigge neare Tymaleage where newes was brought to McCarthy of the surrender of the foresaid <A> Castell to the English at which he seemed verie much displeased, in soe much, that he went a little apart from his company & sett him downe vnder a Bush a pretty space of tyme, and noe man (in regard of his discontent) spake any thing to him, But at Length this Gentleman Examinatt sawe some Gentlemen of the Country (daniel mc Teige o Totan as he remembreth) come to him & touched him by the Cloake & said Come Come why are you soe melancholy, you haue noe busines here lett vs take horse or words to that effect: wherevpon McCarthy arose & called for his horse: And as he was getting vpon his horse, he this Examinantt being verie neare to him well remembreth he then sawe McInycrymine come to McCarthy & asked of him what he should doe with John Burrowes & his Company, to whome McCarthy replyed, goe you & them to the devill & afterwards doe where you will, or words to that effect: And this Examinatt further sayeth that he did not see Burrowes or hes wife that at the foresaid Randevouze, nor heard anything of their being from McInycrymines Castell (where they were formerly kept,) But heard they were that day hanged that afternoone by McInycrimine or by some whome he apointed: And this Examinatt being further demanded whither there was any Councell of Offices held that day at the foresaid Rendesvouze about the tryall or condemnacion of the foresaid Burrowes, he answereth possitiuely there was not, for that McCarthy presently after McInycrymine had moved the foresaid Question gott on horsebacke & ridd away And this Examinantt with him as farre

As O hey’s Castell, And this Examinatt being further demanded whither he heard that day or any tyme before, of any thinge laid to the charge of the foresaid Burrowes, or any of his family, for sendeing any Intelligence or keepeing any Correspondencie with the English: he Answered possitiuely that there was none laid to his charge that day, nor any before that day, that ever he heard of: And this Examinatt being further demanded whither ever he heard that the foresaid Burrowes was carried before McCarthy Reagh to any of his Rendevouze (at Iniskeyne or else where) vpon any account whatsoever or that McInycrimine should become his the said Burrowes, his Bayle to McCarthy Reagh vpon any score: Answereth (possitiuely) he never knew nor heard of any such thing. And beleuieth that noe such thinge Could be, for that this Examinatt then lived with McCarthy Reagh and was continuallie with him: And this Examinantt being further asked how Burrowes came into McInycrymines Custody: Answered that he heard (& doth verily beleiue) it was voluntarily for the said Burrowes better saufegard & protection: And this Examinantt further sayeth that at the day of the said Burrowes his death McInycrymine lived in his Castell of Beallaheerougher & afterwards, But for how long afterwards he cannott well remember And this Examinatt further sayeth that vpon a generall rumor in the Country that Burrowes was basely hanged by McInycrymine & his sons he heard that McInycrymine or some of his people should report that he the said Burrowes or some of his people should send to Bandon bridge for some of the English to come to fall vpon McInycrymine to his losse: And further sayeth not:/
