The Examination of George Dodsworth of taken about 70 yeares of age taken the 21th of September 1652
<Sayeth> That in the yeare 1641 in Lent this Examinantt then liueing with Mr Linscome who was then soueraigne of Kinsaile Clanakilty, well <A> remembreth. That vpon a certaine day, when the Lord of Kenalmeaky came with his Troope, to Clanakilty & invited this Examinantt his Master Linscome, to goe with him to Bandon bridge with his goods (which was then loaden to the quantitye of 10 16 horse loade) in Clanakilty) at which tyme, this Examinantt heard Captain John Oge Barry come & speake to the foresaid Linscome, that he should not, by any meanes goe, nor send his goods; for that he would secure himselfe & his goods & all that belonged to him, as safe as himselfe: And this Examinatt further sayeth, that vpon the foresaid mocion the goods were retorned backe (about the space of two myle) to Mr Linchcomes dwelling house: And he further sayeth that the said Captain Barry continued with them in the said Linchcomes house for about the space of eight dayes, about which tyme the Irish tooke Mr the Castell of doundeddy wherein Mr Hungerford was, and that verie day came & tooke Mr Linchcome & all his people & carried them to Mr Barham’s house about a myle & a halfe from Mr Linchcomes: And further sayeth that in the way betweene the two houses, Mr Linchcome & this Examinantt with all the rest were stripped, And kept prisoner about foure dayes, about which tyme the said Linchcome was with his wife & sister were retorned backe to his owne house; And this Examinatt with weeks & a man & a maide more continued as prisoners at the foresaid Barrham’s house <B> about the space of eight dayes more, about which tyme this Examinatt made an Escape, And heard afterwards, that Linscome & all the rest were put to death: And this Examinantt being demanded where Captain John Barry was when the said Linchcome with the rest were taken out of his house & stript &c. Answereth, that he was gone out of the way that day, but that this Examinantt sayeth he heard that he liued in Mr Linchcomes house, where Mr Linchcome was retorned after the foresaid foure dayes: And this Examinantt further sayeth that, two dayes before Linchcome & this Examinatt with the rest were taken prisoners and stripped as aforesaid, the said Captain Barry gaue orders

to the said Linchcome to carry his goods to an Aunt’s house of the <C> said Captain Barry’s at Muckris: And this Examinantt being demanded what was the names of those that tooke the said Linchcome out of his house &c Answereth he knoweth not their names, but they were some of Captain John Barry’s Companye: And further sayeth not:/
