733My The Examinacion of Morris O’Collane servantt to Mr O Donovane taken the 13th September 1652
<Sayeth> That aboute ffebruary 1641: he then liveing with his Master McTeige O Downy alias Carthy, well remembreth, that John fford <A> & Roberte fford his sonne with his wife & three children were taken by his said Master into his protection vpon ffords desire: And that aboute six weeks after the said fford desired for a Convoy for himselfe & his ffamily to the Garrison of Castlehaven which this Examinantts further master granted them, and accordingly sent them away with dearmond mcdonnell Oge Leary of Glanocrime Thomas mc Knougher Oge & Donnough O Tearahan of about liveing at Mohony within a myle of dunmanway: And that (as he is informed) they Convoyed them to Gortbracke within a myle of Castlehaven where (as this Examinantt was informed) one John McTeige Alias mcTeige of Curry miller in west Carbery kept a Campe. And that Teige oge mc Teige mc Daniel of <B> Temple Bryan, & William Leagh [ R eg eme ] soldiers belonging to the foresaid Teige John McTeige, murthered the foresaid John fford, and that the rest went safe to the Garrison of Castlehaven: And further sayeth: That Teige Oge McTeige McDaniell refused to kill him, and that William Leagh tooke the said Teige Oge’s sword & killed him: And this Examinatt further sayeth: That dearmond Mcdaniell O Leary one of the foresaid Convoy had fiue pounds of the said John ffords money, and that he beleiues the residue had parte of his goods, for he heard them murmuring that they had not share of the fiue pound with the said dearmond mc daniell. And this Examinantt further sayeth <C> that Thomas McKnougher, donnough O Terahan, & one Teige McKnougher, that is since dead, retorned to his Master & lived with him as he did formerly: And further sayeth not:/.
