Thee examanation of John Hagle of Ennyshirkin Enny shirkin aged aboute 24 years beinge sworne saith that in the yeare 1641 that Daued Hagle this deponants ffather Liuinge in west Carbroagh amd beinge then & thare Robed of all or the greatest part of his goods sent this deponant to the Barrany of afformoy to the deponants <A> Ante att Castletowne in which Jurnay the way being dangerus was fforst to march in McCarty Reo in his Brigade ffor his owne saftie & vppon his march aboute six myles of Bandon they the said McCarty Reos partie did mete with an Englishman his wife & two Children whose names he knoweth not that was diginge vpe potatos & sum of them was Rostinge them in that place & McCarty Reo beinge Comander in Chefe & was thare (this deponant did se the said Englisman & his wif & two Chhildren hanged in A tre aboute A Muskitt shott of the place wheare they weare taken (and the Cawse of his knowledge is that the tre was soe short that sum of thare toes did tuch the grownd & they knocked oute thare braines with stones after & McCarty Reo was thare and did pitch his Campe Aboute <B> A myle of the place where they were hanged that Nighte to which Campe the uery next day after sum of his partie did bringe an owld Englis man & an Irish boy to the said Campe & hanged them vppon A tre & the said Irish boy was hanged becawse he had sum biskitt & Chese in his pockitt they towld him that he must needs be an English boy

and further saith that h e the deponant this deponant did se the owld man hanged vp thre of fower times before they hanged him to death & that sum of the company towld him that they put sum of the biskitt and Chese into the boyes mouth when he the said boy was A hanginge and that RMcCarthy Reo was thare all that time in the Campe and further saith nott
