The Examination of Dermot O Donoman of Of dunnowen in the Co: of Corke taken before vs September 9. 1652.
This Examinant sworne saith, that he is aged about 50: that he did knew Thomas Linscome, who lived at the Pallace in the barony of Batteroe Barriroe in the Co: aforesaid, & that he the Examinant lived about two musket shott of him the said Linscome & on the same Land of Pallace: that about February 1641 he the said Linscome did put himselfe vnder the protection of William oge o Shea whom the said Linscom did for that end bring to live in his house with him at Pallace aforesaid: that about June followeing, the said William oge ô Shea tooke occasion to go abroade [ ] & in the meane time [ ] some of McCarty-reaghs party came to the said Linscome house & tooke away him the said Linscome, & his wife, & her sister, & caried them to the next wood & a man & a mayd servant about halfe a mile thence, & there hangd the said Linscome, & his wives sister, & that before the wife of the said Linscombe could be hangd, as the former, the said William oge ô Shea comeing to the place preserved her & brought her back to his the said Linscomes house where this Examinant did after se her & her man & mayde servant, that soone after they <B> were sent away by the said William oge ô Shea with a wife of Linscome & her servants aforesaid were thence conveyed by the said William & John roe a Soldier, whose place of residence the examinant knoweth not, & who caried them them to be alitle beyond Durane in the barony of Carbery where they lefte them; & being there mett (as this Examinant heard) by with some of the Irish, they were by them. they were caried back from thence into Killenumery where they were murthered: & that Dermot O Tooma (as this examinant hath heard) was one of the actors, but & who the rest of the said murtherers were this Examinant knoweth not. He further saith And saith that he knoweth not no any of those who tooke away the said Linscome or who murthered him or his wives sister as aforesaid: But that <C> William mc David of & his children of the Pallace, & dermot mc donogh mc Carty called commonly black-dermot of kilkeranmore neere the Pallace, & Tege o Twoshyg of Glanowiran, & david Barry of Muckris can give information in it. And further saith not.
