The Examination of Richard Sellers of {the} City of Corke taken September 8. 1652.
This Examinant soe beeing sworne saith that he is about 23 yeares old, & that the end of harvest 1643 he was at killnecoragh in the Co: of Corke where then his father Richard Sellers dwelt haveing fearmed that house & halfe a quarter of a plough land from Cnogher ô Bryens father of Killnecorragh for which he payd in way of In-come 90 li. That at the <A> time last before mentioned, the said Cnogher ô Brien Henry Grady (after killed about at Ramines neere dublin black Donogh ô Kearny of Coole, Jerome Rosse of Cleckekele in the barony of Barrymore, the shepherd of {the} said Cnogher Ô Brien, & severall of his the said Briens tenants & others about 40 or 50, came about midnight to the examinants fathers said house, & breakeing in thither without resist resistance then being thare that the Examinants & his said fath{ers} mother, & sister getting out at one of the dores, they were taken followed by the said rebells, where & when this Examinants father was & and mother & sister were murt murthered: he this Examinant escapeing by the darkeness of the night & hideing himselfe in a ditch vntill he was the next day brought of away by a party of 8 horse that came that way. He father farther saieth that the said rebells then also murthered th a sister of this Examinants about 14 yeares old she haveing received 35 stabbs wounds He father saith that Thomas Drue, Grace Abraham, & Edward Everham servants to the examinants said father were then & there also murthered: & that he the Examinant then lying in a ditch as aforesaid did then heare the said Thomas Drue called for quarter, to whom Jerom Rosse before mentioned so nameing himselfe, did promise him quarter: & did keepe him the said Drue two houres after which carrying him to the toppe of the hill & where he was there there murthered. {He farther}

farther saith, That he th e Examinant now residing in Corke, the foresaid <C> Cnogher ô Brien desired conference with him this Examinant which he this Examinant assented vnto, & accordingly did meete the said Cnogher ô Brien at Corke on wednesday Last being the first day of this instant september, when the said Cnogher desired him the Examinant not to prosecute him without giveing him two dayes warneing: & then also the said Conogher ô Brien did confesse to him this Examinant that he was in the company of those at that who at entred his fathers house as aforesaid & when his said father & the rest before mentioned were so murthered. This Examinant farther saieth that the moste of his fathers goodes whereof he was at the time of his death as aforesaid possessed, were carried away into the said Cnogher ô Briens castle of killecorragh. And farther saith not.
