The Examinacion of Nicholas O’Moyrane of Lisnabenny taken the 21th of September 1652
Sayeth: That about a little before Easter in the first yeare of the warres this Examinantt then being at plough there came to him one dearmond McTeige O Mahoony and Shane McDonnoughaug & tooke him from the plough & gaue him & one Teige O Murrohow charge of Phipps an him all night And the next morneing one Phips an English man for that night, whome accordingly they kept, and the next morneing: the said Shane Mcdonnough, came to this said Examinantt & told him that he had orders from the said dearmond mc Teige for the hanging of the said Phips & therevpon bad them carry him vp to knockacullyn soe Shane Mcdonnough & dearmond O Murry went vp to knocacullyn & hanged him, & in the meane tyme this Examinantt went to fetch a shovell to bury him with. And further sayeth not:
