<symbol> <5> Richard White of Rochestowne in the barrony of Coursyes aged 44 yeares or there abouts being sworne & examined saith he knew one William Gussam liueing with Mr <B> Marsh at Oldcourt, & the said Gussam at the begining of the Rebellion was taken Carryed from his masters house by irish Rebells that pertained to MacCarty Rea & & liued at Sleotonny neare Kilbrittan. Whoe carryed him to Kilbrittan & kept him aliue vntill they receiued orders from the said mac Carty Rea, as this deponent was sithence informed by some of mc Cartys tennants whoe were then in Kilbrittan Castle aforesaid. this deponent asked them, why those that carryed the said Gussam away, kept him soe long alive, as before they put him to death, They answered that he was kept vntill notice was giuen to macCarty & orders receiued from him for putting him to death. And further saith that he knew Mr John Stepney, & that he was murthered at the begining of the warres <V> vpon near James Carnys house, by Cormuck o Daly talor to McCarty Rea as Teige Roe Skannell (liueing betwixt Rosse & Clannikilty) told this deponent whoe was likewise well one of those that kild him, though to cleere himselfe he put it wholy vpon the foresaid talor; both of them appertained to MacCarty at Kilbrittan, Also this deponent knew Arthur Glanfield, & that he was murthered neare the said James Carnys house, and this deponent saith that John o Commaine Shepheard to the said Carny was suspected to haue a hand in the murthering him whoe now liues with Edmond Carny sonne of the foresaid James after And this deponent saith that <D> the said Commaine was questioned for vpon that suspition but he declared that it was Phinin mc Teiges sone of Ballin Roche & only Kormucke, both soldiers to McCarty who were slaine since
