The examination of Dermott ô Mahun alias Muskery of Eniscaine in the County of Corke gent aged about threescore & one yeres taken before us the second day of december 1653
Whoe being duely sworne & examined deposeth & saith that Edmund mc Mulmurry mc Swiney tennant and servant to the Lord of Muskery after the first Cessation of Armes in Ireland [ ] affirmed vnto him this Examinant being asked by this Examinant what became of John ffipps & his wife & Manasses their sonn, & of their goods he the said Edmund therevnto answered that he heard that they the said John ffipps together with his wife & sonn were killd in Ivelery (part of Muskery) by one Donoghwhose surname the examinant remembreth not; And that the said John ffipps hee himself had sold away twoe of his Cowes & that he the said ffipps had a horse, but what became of him he said, that he knew not, he alsoe told this Examinant that he heard that the said John Phipps with his wife and sonne were so killed about Ester next after the breakeing out of the Rebellion. And this Examinant verely beleeveth the same to be true for that in harvest 1642 two daughters and a boy the children of the said John ffipps came to this Examinants then howse at Eniskaine aforesaid, & said that the said Edmund mc Mulmurry mc Swinney sente them thither two of which children affirmed vnto this Examinant that their said father mother & their brother Manasses were killd in Ivelery aforesaid, but by whome they said they could not tell, The said twoe children also affirmed to him this Examinant that their father & mother left twoe Cowes & a horse & two chests of Linnen & some tooles

<B> with the said Edmund mc Mulmurry mc Swinney & would not deliuer the same vnto them: howbeit the said Edmund denied that he had the same in manner as aforesaid And saith that although the said John ffipps with his wife & sonn were affirmed to be killd on the Lord of Muskerys Land or neere the same yet he never heard of any that was questioned for the same either by the said Lord of Muskery or any others And further saith that an Irish man whose name he hath forgotten, (but he was by trade a sivemaker, & was tennant to the said Edmund mc Mulmurrey mc Swinney told & protested all that to be true which that the said children had soe as aforesaid affirmed to him this Examinant
