Patrick Morrell of the age of 40 36 yeares or thereabouts beeinge duly sworne & Examyned deposeth as followeth
<A> That hee lyved in the Castle of Cahirdawgane when the same was surprised by Redmond Roch and his Company about 7 or 8 sithence in the Moneth of Aprill, And hee knoweth that one Dermod ô Brother one that then lyved in the Castle was att the tyme of the saide surprisall shott and killed deade on the bridge neere the sayd Castle by one of the Irish party called hee sayeth Phelim that the said Castle after the surprisall was plundered, and hee sawe then & there with the said Redmond Roche, Redmond Danuane of Dannanstowne John Roche of Ballynamoney & his sonne Morris Roche with others &c. Hee saieth that hee beleeueth that the said <B> Redmond Roch was Cheefe Comaunder of the party for whatsoever those of the Irish did then that was there/ they said it was by the Comaund of the said Redmond Roche And hee after soe takeinge the sayde Castle the said Redmond kept the possession thereof, Hee also saieth that hee this Examinant with seuerall others of the English that then lyved in the said Castle, was after surprisall thereof kepte prisoners by the said Redmond Roch vntill they weare Exchanged by the Lo: Inchiquine./ And further saieth not/
