<symbol> Walter Baldwin of Granocoonige in the County of Cork gent (an English protestant) aged <A> 50 yeres or thereabouts sworne & examined deposeth & saith That in the first yere of the present Rebellion there was (as this deponent hath credibly heard & beleeveth) within the Barrony of Carbery oneLinchcome an Englishman was murthered by the Rebells there but by whom he knows not nor by whose Comand Only he can say that if not at that tyme yet afterwards McCartie Reagh was governor of the Rebell forcs of Carbery. And by like credible report one Burrowes an English man was in that yere also murthered within the barrony aforesaid but knowes not any of the Murtherers, And that also one Scott & his wife & 2 daughters were both murthered within the Barrony aforesaid by two of the Relies & others whose Crissen names vizt Phillip รด <B> Relie of or neare a place called Ballownighell husbandman & ( now turned Torie) & by another of the Relies whoe is since hanged by V comand from Lieutenant Colonell Wheeler governor of Bandon, & by others whom he knows not, which was done about ffebr or March 1641 near to the Lands of Ballownighell aforesaid, And also credibly heard that seuerall other protestants whose names or numbers he cannot expresse were [ ] about the first yere of the Rebellion murthered in the way as they came from Macroome towards Corke, at a place near Blarney the Lord of Muskeries howse, & that one <C> Slabagh whoe lived near Blarny Castle was a principall actor therein: And that one Phillip Hill in the yere aforesaid was Likewise murthered in Ivelery within the Barrony of Muskery, And that William Woods & his sonn=in Law both tennants to the Lord of Muskery were both murthered carried away from their dwelling & carried away to called-

Kilhominy in the Barrony of Muskery westward & there murthered, but the murtherers names knows <1866 L> not. And further saith that by generall report & as this deponent verely beleeveth) the Lord of Muskery Comanded the forcs in Muskery when the murthers afoiresaid nere committed.
