The Examinacion of Dermott Ô Mahaony alias Neenyr taken Sept: 9th 1652
<A> Saith that Aboute the begining of the warrs he then liueing at the lands of knocks John oge Ô Crooly And Daniell Ô Tottan brought In pris prissonour to owin mcCallahane Carthys house one John ffipps ffeepes An Enlishe man, And there keept him that night, And the next day carried the said ffepps to McCarthy Reagh to his Rendesvowes At the Manche where the said ffepps wase by McCarthy And other officers, (And Country Gentlemen) Condemned to death; And after sentence passed the foresaid John oge Ô Crooly desyred McCarthy Reagh to go order him some satisfaction for his service In Bringing In the said ffeppes; McCarthy sayd he could (smilling) he would, And Gaue the foresaid John oge ô Crooly & Daniell Ô Tottan orders to excecute of said prissonour which they tooke Into theire charge; And as they weare A Goeing ouer the lands of killCashane (A littell from the manche), John oge sayd here is A good tree. Lett vs hang him wee will neuer carry him further wherevpon this Examinatt desyred he would nott. In regard it wase soe late; Jo: oge replyed he would nott for A hundred pownds but hang him (According to McCarthy order) And therevpon gaue order to Teig ô Murrye of knockes John McDonnogh Cnoghor Ô knocke (And 3 or 4 more whose names he remembreth not) to execute ffeppes And take his Clothes for theire <B> paines, And the nextt morning Teig Ô Murry with
<the foresaid Donnogh knocks (& those whose names he remembreth not) tooke the prisonour to the lands of knockoCullaine And there hanged him vntill he wase dead; And further saith nott,
