The examanation of Donnoh O Coghlan aged about fiftie being sworne & examaned saith that in or about 1642 he saw one Joh Oage O Crowly & Danill mc Teage Totan alis Cullan <A> Cominge then with one Joh: Phips ane English man beinge A presonar to McCartys Campe beinge then att Manch & the very same day in the eueninge met the said Joh: Crowly with the prisoner goinge oute of the Campe and asked the said att Crowly what newes now & the said Crowly towld him this deponant that he had butt the presoner for satisfaction for his pray & that the said Crowlay did wish that he had one to hange the said Jon Phips by reason that himselfe was in quarter & therfore dust nott to hang him & that he & therfore dust nott to hang him & that he would giu the Cloats of the said presoner to any one that would hang him & then one John mc <B> donno being A ffellow Sowlder of this deponants said that he would hang him soe that he might haue his Cloats & the said Crowlay did deliuer the presoner to the said John McDonno who promised to hange him the next morninge) soe they went thare way all together towards kilbracke kilcacan Land & one Dur Teage O Mahane Alys Nenogh was in thare company & the said Joh: McDonno towld this deponant aferward that the said Joh: mc Donno brought the presoner to the Land of knocks that night which was the Land of Dur: the said Teage Mahane & the next morninge heard others hanged the said John Jo Phips
