The Examinacion of William Murphew of Cloughmacowe taken the 14th of September 1652
Sayeth That aboute the begining in the first yeare of the Troubles <symbol> aboute ffebruary he well remembreth that Roberte Scott came to this Examinantts house & desired leaue of him to bring his wife & daughters & goods into a house of this Examinants neare aioyneing to this said Examinantts owne dwelling house, which he freely condiscended to & about two or three dayes after the said Robert Scott with his wife & three daughters & his goods came to this examinantts house as aforesaid, and there continued six or seaven weeks foure or fiue dayes, after the Irish were routed & Rochford’s towne, about which tyme the said Robert Scott <A> with his wife & daughters aforesaid were taken of out of this Examinantts said house & Murthered about halfe a mile, and there all of them were murthered. This Examinantt further sayeth that the names of those that Murthered them were donnough mc Teige, Teige O Realigge, dearmond mc knougher Phillip O’Realligg & Teige McShane Realigge, tw of the first two whereof were executed by the Lord of Muskery by whose Confession this examinant knows they the wen fiue were the men that Comitted the Murther: He further sayeth that he heard that one Teige o Realigge a Tayler also was at the Executing murthering of them This [ ] Examinantt further sayeth that one John Mcdonnell Realligge (as he heard) was there alsoe at the murthering of them: And this Examinantt further sayeth that he had of the foresaid Scotts goods what is sett downe in an Inventory hereto Annexed: And further sayeth not:/.
