The Examinacion of Dr Callahan Carthy of dounderricke taken the 14th September 1652
Sayeth: That about ffebr: 1641 he well remembreth that Robert Scott his wife & three daughters left their owne house & went to one donnough Mcdearmonds of Curriclough for safeguard, And in a little tyme after they removed from the said dearmonds house to the house of one William Morfewe of Cloughmacowe, vpon what occasion this Examinantt knowes not: And that about six weeks after they had beene at the said Wm Morfewes house they were taken & carried <A> in the night to such a place about halfe a mile from the house, & there all of them were Murthered: And this examinantt further sayeth That he heard it was one Carthy & one Teige o Realigge & one Phillipp O Realigge and a woman or two whose names he remembreth not that Committed the said Murther: And further sayth that the Lord Muskery hangd the foresaid Carthy & Teige Realigge for the said Murther and Phillipp O Realigge made an escape. And this Examinatt sayeth that he heard that William Murfewe was at his house at Cloughmacowe the same day that the Murther was done: And at night: And further sayeth that he heard that Morfewe had removed his goods & family to Castlemore <B> three or foure dayes before the murther was done: And this examinantt further sayeth that the Lord of Muskery gaue orders to this examinantts brother who was then the parish Preist to take an Inventory of all the goods belonging to the foresaid Scott that was left after he was murthered to the end they might be preserved for those that were next of kyn. And further sayeth that all the goods belonging to the foresaid Scott (except six Cowes which the Lord Muskery ordered for the supplie of his Garrison of kilcrea, for the which he is ready to give satisfaction) were left in the hands of William Morfewe. And further sayeth not.
