John Shepard of Downderrow Gentleman Aged about 40 yeares beinge sworne & Examined saith that hee Liuing att Downderrow afforesaid in the yeare 42.
<1> That he knew the afforesaid said Roche Liuinge att PowleLonge the same yeare
<3> That hee held out the afforesaid Castle Against the English
<4> That from the Castle there were Kild seuerall English persons
That hee was att Bellgooly att a meeting or Councell of the Gentlemen of the Country Viz John Longe High Shreife <5> Barry oge James Mallisant and seuerall others. The Cause of this deponent knowledge is that hee was att the takinge of the afforesaid Castle where hee saw A letter under the said Roche his owne hand to the Lord Muskery for aide to keepe & mayntayne the said Castle against the English and farther saith not
