<Kinsale ffebruary 21th 1653> Depositions takinge Concerninge Edmond Hodnett of CourtNeshery in the Barrony of Ibane in the yeare 1641
Rich: White of LisLee Aged about 46 yeares beinge Sworne and Examined Saith that hee Liued att Lislee afforesaid in the yeare 41
That hee knew the afforesaid Hodnett Liuinge as afforesaid the same yeare
<1)> That hee did not Remoue into the English Quarters as diuers other English of his Neighbours did as hee had opertunity to doe
<3)> That hee was in Actuall Armes with the Eneimy the same yeare
<9)> That hee kept CourtNesherry with men and Armes for the Irish against the English and that the said Hodnett and William Barry had Comand of att Least 400 men drawn up against a state ship that was Cominge into the harbour of Courtnesherry That by force and uiolence
<[1]4)> That by force and uiolence hee tooke away the goods of Esquire Gookin to witt Viz sheep oxen Saltt and other goods all Amounting to the Sume of 2000 li. sterling
The Cause of this deponent Knowledge is that when he fled from William Barry for his Life went downe with his goods to Kourtnesherry thinkinge to Saue them by bote this Hodnett Came then downe and tooke away the oares out of the said boat and told this deponent that if hee did not hasten Away hee the said Hodnett would Cutt his throat and when hee had made a Saile of a Caddow to hast Away, Sume of his men made seuerall shotts at this deponent and that hee then saw the goods of the afforesaid Squire Gookin in his Custody and farther saith not
