<Mallow March the 11o 1653> Deposicions taken Concerning Cnoghor o Bryen of BallyCorra in the Barrony of Barrymore & County of Corke gent in the yeare 45
Cornett John Jones of Mallow Aged forty yeares. being Duly Sworne & Examined Saith,That the said Bryen was in Actuall Armes against the English in the yeare <1)> That hee the said Brien liued at Ballycorra aforesaid, and Might haue Remoued into the English quarters as severall of his Neighbours Did & Did Not,
<2)> That hee Remoued and Joyned with the Enemy
<3)> That hee did Actually Contribute Assistance to the Enemy,
<4)> That hee Actually Comitted a Murther vppon Mrs Aldworth of Ballyhooly, & others
<9)> That hee Comanded a P Troope of horse in the Irish Party,
<4)> That hee Robbed the said mrs Aldworth & the Rest of the the Garrison of Ballyhooly aforesaid, of all their goods, which they were Carrying to Corke Castlelyons for security
<11)> That there were English then in Company with the said mrs Aldworth; viz; William Brookes Now Liuing in the Barrony of ImoKilty and one Latchford then Killed, and one Ovingtons Daughter, Now liuinge at Balyhooly aforesaid, one Edw Snooke & Gregory Ovington both liuing Now at Ballyhooly,

The Cause of this Deponents Knowledge is, that hee and fiue more being sent from Corke by the Lord of Inchequin, with letters to Ballyhooly came vppon the said Party at the instant time that they sett vppon the said English, and saw the said mrs Aldworth lying dead vppon the ground, And hee saw the said Cnoghor o Bryen with a Party of Armed men on horsebacke & some foote with them, who: shott at this deponent & those that were with him & forced them to Retreate, to Castlyons Corke
