<Copia vera> Donnough Mac Quough sowrne and Examined before mee the 3th of Nouember 1652
Affirmeth that hee was an Inhabitant neere the Lough, but when the stires begane In the yeare fourty one Master John Lacy of the Brough had his tennants as souldiers, to the Intent that he might that he defend him selfe against the Garrison of Loughguire then held and kept by Master Wickes for the Interest of the parliament of England, vpon which the said Donnough Mac Quogh was Intertained a seruante and souldier to the aforesaid Lacey, who came with such force as he could make to Ballingallough where they staid: and saw some other force one the other side thinkeing to take the Garrison, but some of the partie spieing two men at the Grange said there wheare to English there, then Master John Lacey Comemanded a partie of men to goe and take these two men, whereof this deponent was one of them, and further sayeth that Grigeroy Thorne, and one Patricke was the the men which they then tooke, which some of the souldiers would haue shott had it not binne for the deponent but desired them to bring them vnto Master Lacey which was donne accordingly after which they weare carried to the Brough, and there keept in the stockes Twenty foure howers, and by the comemand of Master John Lacey sent to Killmalocke Gaile after beeing there a weeke and nothing donne with them, they weare sent backe againe and kept them twenty foure howres at Brough, then Master Lacey tooke an occasion to goe to Lymricke and left order with his Constoble Phillip O Collane and with his souldiers that both the men should be hanged, which this deponant Confesseth to be the Executioner in regard that Grigoriy Thorne was his freind, and did desire he should doe it rather then another seeing it must be donne: soe he went and tooke his wiues Kirchor and put it about Grigroy Thorns face and hanged him and the other
