The Lady Mary Dillon being duely examined & sworne sayeth that she receiued a letter from one Stibbs & <A> (George Dillon) (who were condemned) to mediate and interced: for their liues, that at least they might be repreiued tile the Lord Dillon, and Sir James Dillon (her husband) who were gone to Galway, did returne, wherevpon this Examinate came to Athlone and spoke to Sir Walter Dongan to spare their liues with whom she could not prevayle. And sayth that she heard it reported in towne that the Lady francis Dillon said to the Councell of Warr that she would neither eate, nor drinke till stibbs and Dillon were put to death, But sayth that as many of the councell of Warr as she spoke with said she had no hand in it nor euer spoke any such wordes to them; But sayeth shee did not goe into the castle to see the said Lady Francis at that tyme: And sayeth the thinkes if the Lord Dillon and her husband Sir James had bin at hom the said persons had not suffered because Sir James was much troubled at it when he came home who told this examinate that the Lord Dillon was much troubled at Galway when he heard of the buisinesse
